Mr. Taylor has over 28 years of financial services experience and is a Certified Financial Planner Certificant and Fiduciary Investment Adviser. Among
other accomplishments, Mr. Taylor is a past Chairman of the Financial Planning Association, Los Angeles Chapter,President of the Los Angeles Society, Institute of Certified Financial Planners,and contributor to many newspapers and magazines such as the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Investor Business Daily, Financial Planning Magazine, The Journal of Financial Planning, Ticker, Investment Advisor and Financial Advisor Magazine, among others. He has also appeared on the Ask the Expert segment of Fox television’s Morning News Program.
For many years Mr. Taylor has been at the forefront in the fight for ethics and higher standards in the profession of financial planning. He served as an adviser to the Task Force on Disclosure for Certified Financial Planners and helped rewrite standards for openness and disclosure. In 1999 under Mr. Taylor’s presidency, the Los Angeles Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners was awarded the prestigious, national "David M. King" Award for "Outstanding Society of the Year". The David M. King national awards program, introduced in 1995, honors the memory of David M. King, the only two term President of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners who died in 1991. The award for Society of the Year is awarded to local ICFP societies for outstanding achievement in six categories, namely: Administration & Leadership, Membership, Education, Public Relations, Technology and Government Relations.
A long-time resident of Santa Monica, Mr Taylor is married (his wife Maria is an accountant and legal secretary at a local law firm) and actively involved in his local community. Mr. Taylor volunteers his time with the Los Angeles Fire Dept. Auxiliary Communications Service as Battalion 9 Communications Unit Leader, as a member of Santa Monica's Disaster Communications Service and is a trained CERT Instructor teaching the 21 hour, FEMA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. He is also an active volunteer with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team leader assisting families in need throughout the South District of the Los Angeles region who have lost everything due to fire or other disaster. He also served as the Roosevelt PTA Chairman of the Earthquake Safety and Child Safety Committees for 4 years and gives seminars to local residents regarding on-line safety techniques for children, as well as earthquake and disaster preparedness. In 2014, Mr. Taylor joined the Santa Monica Malibu PTA council as VP of Haelth and Safety for the district. As a former radio personality and professional disc jockey from the 1970's and 80's, he can often be found providing the music and entertainment at Roosevelt Elementary school fund raisers and functions.
