International
Estate Planning And Social Security Worldwide
| The
issues involved in international retirement and estate planning for
U.S. citizens and aliens with assets in other countries is exceedingly
complex. If you have entered these pages looking for answers I can
assure you that you are going to need competent assistance during
the planning and implementation stages.
I
have written a short primer highlighting issues and concerns in
multi jurisdictional estate planning. I have also been fortunate
enough to obtain permission from the U.S. Social Security Administration
to reproduce the primer they authored on Social Security Systems
throughout the World © 1999. These articles do not seek to
provide you with specific tax or legal advice. You should not use
or rely on the information I have provided to solve your specific
issues or concerns. These articles, as with all information contained
on my web site, are subject to my disclaimer, please read it carefully!

I
was recently quoted in an article titled "Into Foreign Territory"
written by Alan Feigenbaum and published in the February issue of
Bloomberg wealth Manager. The article, written for Financial Planners,
provides an insight into the myriad of issues facing the advisor when
counseling foreign born and resident alien clients. Click for a copy

To read the full and unedited report I presented to the Ganné
Family regarding the international succession planning concerns they raised
in the Los Angeles Times "Money Makeover" column published on January
25, 2000. Remember, the laws of every jurisdiction are fluid and constantly
changing. While you should not rely on this information to plan your estate,
it will provide an insight into the potential complexities of multi-jurisdictional
planning.
